Hi, I’m Andy - My work combines strategic thinking and a passion for crafting experiences that delight users and drive business results.
I am a UI/UX Lead based in Manchester UK with 5+ years of design experience and 15+ years building web products.

Efficacy reviews and follow up
Adding events to the system was cumbersome, time consuming and was a barrier to scale.
Process mapping sessions with the events team and user interviews led to the creation of a UI which helped improve throughput whilst also increasing the detail added to each event.
Most importantly for all involved stakeholders the volume of high value events added to the system increased by 14x, an improvement which could referenced when negotiating recurring contracts.

90 sec.
Event creation reduced 2-3 hours to 90 seconds.
15x
Increase in normal event data processing.
14x
Increase in high value events data processing.
Improve search engagement
Users reported difficulties discovering data using the current search solution. We chose to test an LLM option.
Working closely with engineering we were able to offer a solution using other LLM tools we had available to us.
The solution provides a more natural way for users to interrogate the data available to them, without having to first know the entire depth of it.
Much of this work focussed on assessing common patterns (Jakobs law) and ensuring our product could mimic those solutions, but for a new dataset.
Beta
This was released as a free beta to understand engagement.
5x
Improvement in search volume.
2.5x
Increase in repeat searches.
Improving the design to dev pipeline
When joining Fenix Insight there were no formal design processes in place.
No matter how complete a process is I am always interested to see how I can squeeze more from what I have (or don't have).
When I started the process I was driven by the desire to produce better work, allowing engineering to be more efficient with their design related time.
Reducing elements like cognitive load and improving information flow it has been possible to improve engineering's understanding of the product roadmap and reduce frustration.
Reduced meetings with async messaging
Improved consistency with a design system
Files improved to aid navigability and handoff
Define success and outcomes as a team
Design to dev pipeline improvements
Async design reviews - Too many meetings taking up too much time. These were reduced with Async messaging.
Improved meeting management - handoff is scheduled in advance to better manage time and pace of the project.
Improved communication - clear definitions of success and scope for the work. Deliverables defined early.
Predictable file structures - Files now represent product areas with milestone delivery kept separate to ideation. Files are searchable and relate to ticket and sprint allocations.
